First of all the Goruck Challenge is not a race. If you want to do a race, this is not for you. However, if you want to test your mental toughness, work as a team, feel like you have truly accomplished an amazing feat, and make some lifelong friends… then you’ve come to the right place. The Cadre (instructors) will challenge, you will all types of tasks, that seem simple, but somehow become extremely difficult. The challenge lasts at a minimum 8-10 hours and covers again at a minimum of 13-15 miles. I say at a minimum, because depending on how soon your crew works as “one”, you are on their time. this means you could be in for alot longer ordeal that you originally planned. All while wearing a backpack filled with 6 breaks (if you weigh over 150) or 4 breaks (if under 150). Sound intimidating… it should. If you are successful in completing the challenge, you will have a major feeling of accomplishment, not easily mimicked.
Well the intro year with Fairfax County Fire has almost come to an end. So that means GoRucks in the future. Working on a date to do one with a big team. So keep training.
